Introduction:
I've spent a look of years travelling the United States going from the Pacific Northwest to the South east and from the North east to the Rocky Mountain. My journey lead me in and out of Native, African American, Urban and Pre-Columbia cultures. I like to think that what I do and what I draw reflects those Forty plus years of experiences.
Personal Information
I am a Red-woman (although, some say that I am really "pecan-tan"). The years between infancy and puberty were spent roaming the rooms of my grandparents insul-brick home. Those days, it was quite common for many a residence to house several generations; 4510 Sylvan was no different.
I was present at many happenings: I heard the pulsing and pounding sound of J & L; the clanging of the bell at each stop the rickety trolley made as it made its precarious trip up and down SECOND AVENUE; all of it accompanied by "Nobody Knows the trouble I'es sees.." sung by the OLD SISTRA's in the little choir at St. Johns Baptist Church.
Along the my life's road,I graduated with a BFA in Fine Arts from one of the more prestigious colleges, worked as an inner-city school arts and crafts teacher and gave birth to a wonderful daughter who spouts poetry and sings the blues. I like to think that it is never to late to full fill ones dreams, strive for something better and go after the things that YAHuWEH has given one. I believe my artistic expression reflects that hope.
